World of Work Week (added 30.10.15)
We had our first World of Work week in October and it was a great success. There were a number of visitors in the school to talk about careers and further education with the pupils. Each class took on their own mini enterprise topic. Pupils had to think of a company name and what the values of their company would be. They thought carefully about advertising and then finally selling their product. The week ended with Business Awards. The pupils learned lots of new skills as well as thoroughly enjoying the experience. A huge thanks to Miss Burnside, all teachers and support staff for their creativity and enthusiasm. Thanks also go to our great parents and carers who supported our enterprise companies and attended the business awards.

Halloween Disco (added 30.10.15)
Our Halloween disco went really well. Our primary 7 pupils, Mrs Barclay and Mrs Kerr did a great job of decorating the hall and devising lots of spooky and gooey dames for the children to enjoy. Well done p7!  Click HERE to see some great photos.
After School Clubs (14.09.15)
We are delighted to be offering some new clubs this term. p5 - 7 rugby has already started and that will continue every Monday throughout the year. On a Tuesday primary 3 will have a 5 week block of dance. On Wednesday there will be a new afterschool club called Friends and Heroes. This is for p4 - p7 pupils and is an hour of fun activities linked to Bible Stories. Also on Wednesdays is rugby for p4 pupils. Again, this will be a 5 week block. Mr Brown will be taking the football again but it will be slightly different this year. There will be trials for p6 and p7 girls and boys and then the successful pupils will train every Thursday after school. Although this term there are afterschool  clubs for all p3 - p7 pupils, there will be clubs later on in the year for our p1 and p2 pupils. Thank you to all volunteers who take clubs for us, it is greatly appreciated.

Summer Reading Challenge Winnners (06.09.15)
We had some exciting news last week when we were told we had won the summer reading challenge for Rutherglen and Cambuslang. On Friday 5th September, we took 18 pupils to Low Parks Museum in Hamilton for the presentation. There was even more good news when it was announced that we were the overall winners for South Lanarkshire. The children were presented with a shield and a trophy. One of our primary 3 pupils, Emilia, also received a special presentation for reading the most books out of all the children in South Lanarkshire. It was a great event but we are especially pleased because we have done a lot of work over the last year to encourage reading for enjoyment and it is great to be recognised within South Lanarkshire Council for this. We also have to thank Debbie from Rutherglen library for her support and for also encouraging the children to be involved in the local library. Well done everyone!  Click HERE to see our photo.

Fast Success (added 06.03.15)
Our second cycle of FAST was completed at the end of February and we are delighted that it was a great success again. We were delighted to welcome back some familiar faces as well as some new faces too. The graduation was as much fun as last time with this years theme being pyjama party. Mrs McCool started the graduation by inviting all the families onto the stage one by one to collect their gifts and affirmations. Then all the staff, parents and community partners were thanked for their important role over the last few months. Everyone then enjoyed a lovely meal together. There was much excitement when the magician arrived to perform some tricks and magic for the children and their families. FAST is a lot of work for the team who organise the food, hampers, activities and games but it is all worth it to see so many families having fun and making new friends. Special thanks to Mrs McCool who worked with all our staff, parents and friends to make it such a success.
